COVID-19 Update

Published: Friday, March 13, 2020

As you are probably aware, Alaska has had its first confirmed case of the COVID-19 virus. Over here at Aspen Creek, we are continuing to take measures to try to keep our residents protected. This morning our team met and discussed the most recent updates and recommendations from the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services Guidance for Long-Term, Assisted Living and Residential Facilities. Our number one goal at this time is focused on infection control plans, and maintain the health and safety of all who live and work here.

As of today March 13th, 2020, we are continuing with our visit restrictions, and asking all residents to avoid all public outings. In addition to screening essential visitors, we will be monitoring the body temperature of all who enter our building. We are adhering to strict Standard and Transmission-Based Precautions. Also, we are asking families to cancel all non emergent medical appointments. There are two virtual clinics available for online medical visits: Providence Express Care  and Call On Doc.

In the kitchen, our Executive Chef Jericho is ensuring we are stocked with plenty of food. If any resident begins to exhibit any sign or symptom of an acute respiratory illness, we will begin a quarantine of all residents.

On a lighter note, if you would like to visit with your loved one, we would love to set up a FaceTime or virtual visit to help keep everyone in contact. We will be looking into doing a Facebook Live during one of the meals here. If you have already joined our Aspen Creek Families Facebook group, please do so.

Over the weekend, our front doors will be locked. If you need something urgently, there is a doorbell in the foyer. We realize this creates an inconvenience and hardship on those who wish to see their loved ones, but their safety is of our utmost concern at this time. We ask you to educate and protect yourself by checking into the CDC website daily at www.cdc.gov as well as to educate all those around you. Thank you all for your patience during this difficult time.
